Holy Week Preparations

While everyone else are on vacation, the holy week is one of the most busiest week for me and my guitars. We usually hold multiple church services within the week, which means that we have to prepare a good number of songs, and ofcourse play them live. Since I am now living quite a distance away from our local church, I’m expecting the schedule and travel time to be quite a challenge this year. So what I did was to prepare a long term schedule for the last week of March and I also ensured that my gear is ready for the task. Good thing the strings are still OK, but I might have to shop elixir strings just to be on the safe side. Oh and I almost forgot that I have to make sure our car is running properly to handle the constant traveling!

Z at Boracay

From time to time, I still look back to our Boracay vacation, and it gets me thinking of having another vacation this summer with my family.  Here’s Z enjoying the sand and the beautiful sunset scenery at Boracay.

Airplane Ride!

Zack’s 2nd Airplane ride at 2 Yrs old

Our youngest Zachary is very fond of planes, and so he definitely enjoyed his second flight at two years old. He blurted “Lipad na tayo” as the plane was taking off in a loud voice. Look at how happy he is during the flight!

Extended Family

Last year we enjoyed our family trip to Bohol, although the kids were really happy, we know that Z would be even more ecstatic if his bestfriend/cousin would come along. So when we booked our flight for Boracay, we talked to my brother to see if they are interested, and it turned out that they were, so on this trip we have two families. My youngest sister, who is about to graduate also wanted to join the vacation, so we decided to bring her along, as an alternative to giving her graduation rings for girls.

Our decision to bring my brother’s family was indeed the right one because the kids really enjoyed each others company, right from the airport up to their last dip in the beach. If you haven’t tried yet, go on trips with more people, – the more the merrier

Playing in the Sand

Aside from swimming for hours, the kids enjoyed the famous white sand of Boracay. They spend their swimming breaks playing with the sand. Their smiles add to the already amazing beauty of the beach.

Snorkeling

I have to admit that I not a good swimmer, but I can swim floating-style. So when we rented a boat to go snorkeling around Boracay, I was thinking that I would just stay on the boat and keep watch of our bunso.

My plan worked because I was able to skip the first snorkeling spot, and my decision to stay on the boat was justified because of our baby. However when the next spot came, my wife decided to stay and I had no choice but to jump into the water. And so I did, and it was surprisingly quite fun. At first I was pretentious but after thinking happy thoughts like music, guitar, gear and my favorite guitar store, I ended up enjoying the time I had swimming on deep ocean water.

Unfortunately the waves were rocking the boat too much, so much so that one of the passengers could not help but vomit. So our snorkeling was cut short and we were back to the shore again.

Boracay Music

Finally home from our week long vacation at Boracay, and all I can say that it was a blast. The first part of the trip was littered with problems, we faced a 3 hour flight delay and we the reservation that we paid for was not exactly what we hoped. But after all of that was straightened out, everything was smooth sailing. I’ll get into the details of the trip on another post, but for now I want to talk about one thing I regret leaving behind, my guitar! I wish I bought my faithful axe along, because it would have fit the relaxing scenario!

Well there were local bands that performed at night, but without being an air-head, they were in my humble opinion not up to the level of musicianship that I was expecting for a world famous beach. Some of the guitars were out of tune, and the covers were lack luster, they should have played local and original songs, using local instruments! I was seriously considering to voluntarily sit in with one of the bands just so people could enjoy music quality that matches the scenery!

Being away from my guitar for a week made me itch for a new guitar that I can travel with, was thinking of something affordable, or maybe go for gold and get a cool taylor t5.

Here’s bunso enjoying the beach:

Boracay!

The early parts of January has become but a prelude to our next vacation target – Boracay! We booked for it way back in August last year and now the flight is just around the corner. The funny thing is that we are so busy with work and other things that we haven’t actually found time to properly prepare and buy the things we need for the trip. We haven’t even printed the tickets!

So while I do my usual research work and look at online print solutions at eoncode.com, the thought and excitement of vacation is gradually creeping in. Can’t wait!
