Valentines Surprise

I’m not the type that thinks food and gifts can substitute for quality time, however I understand that I have to set my ideals aside from time to time to please my wife.  And so this Valentines, my Z helped me prepare a special dinner for his mom.  We rushed in the afternoon to buy my wife’s favorite food – Ice Cream and Cake, and we ofcourse picked out flowers.  When we got home, we prepared the table and setup to candles to make it a solemn dinner.  When she came home, she was greeted by the candle lit table with the cake and dinner, and my eldest gave her the flowers.  The smile on her face is priceless, and up to now, she smiles when I tease her about being materialistic when it comes to special days! Here is a picture that she took of the cake:

Breaktime

I consider myself so blessed to be able to work from home. It has a lot of perks – not having to worry about traffic and gas price changes is probably somewhere near the top, next to it would be other money saving opportunities like being able to wear cheap tees since I don’t have to look too formal at home.

But more than saving money and making money – at the top of what makes my job really special is none other than being able to spend more time with my family. I get to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with them and I get to see, hug, kiss and talk with them whenever I want. As a sample here is how my break time looks like:

So to all hardworking fathers, we now live in the age where we can make money without sacrificing our time with our family. Check every option before going the easy money route of working away from your family. :)

Hunt for a new phone

When the kids were content and happy, we quickly moved into the Cyberzone area of MOA to scourge the shops for my wife’s next phone.  Since the current iPhone is just a smaller version of the iPad2 that can make calls, we opted to try our luck with other brands. I’ve been hearing about how fragile the iPhone 4s is and the corresponding horror stories that come with it, so instead of getting one and wrapping it in adamantium metal, I’d rather have a sturdy phone that will work without the need for ridiculous rubber edge sealsprotection.

Father’s Day Gift – Side Story

Since my wife already divulged everything that happened on Father’s day at her blog, I’ll just add in a few details that she left out.

I am used to her style of giving, she either gives me something extravagant, or nothing at all. And usually, these extravagant things are not what I was expecting – but I still end up liking. Last year she surprised me with a 4th Gen iPod Touch, it was totally unexpected because I am a Windows guy that think Mac stuff is for simpletons. Ironically, I loved the iPod touch and it led us to be more interested with Apple products. To make the long story short, we now have an iPad and a Macbook Pro and we love them both.

Her gift this time around was an expensive perfume, she was planning to surprise me with it but Zyke being the honest kid easily spilled the beans when we spoke over the phone before they went home. The decision to give me a perfume was another one of her unexpected and extravagant gifts – because I have been complaining to her that I have too many colognes and perfumes, that I didn’t know which one to use. They are of the cheaper kind, but I am quite content with them. The last thing I wanted was another Perfume and an expensive one at that! But just like before, I ended up liking her gift, which I easily became grateful for. Maybe it’s not the gifts that I like, but the giver. Thanks for the gifts!

Birthday!

Birthday!

Yesterday, my wife celebrated her birthday in a completely different manner. Usually we go out as a family for a swim or to eat somewhere nice – but this time around my wife opted to spend her special day participating at our women’s ministry event. The event was fun, with over 100 mothers within our community sharing the stage and their stories with plenty of food on the a buffet style table.

Different groups of moms showed their skills through presentations, first one was a touching drama presentation complete with nice props (though I wish they had a hanging chair in one of their scenes). There was a choral number that sang a joyful tune and ofcourse there was a hip dance number which my wife was part of.

Instead of enjoying herself, I was surprised to see my wife help out on the event and she even ended up dancing with the other moms – to give glory to God. Happy Birthday mommy J!

My Wife’s Beauty Regimen

My wife said she’ not getting any younger. That’s why she has started taking care of her skin. She recently got this gift pack containing beauty products like cleanser, toner, exfoliant, moisturizer, and the best wrinkle lotion. She has started making it a daily routine to apply on her face. She said the results are immediate and her face is cleaner and less oily.   It also holds her makeup better.  I also noticed the difference.  Sure it takes a couple of minutes everyday to do the same routine twice daily but it certainly is worth it.
