Summer Music Workshop

Summer Music Workshop

Our busy summer music workshop has finally come to an end and we did it  by forming new bands.   The last workshop day was spent with the kids employing what they have learned throughout summer – and that is by jamming with their new bands!  Everyone was obviously excited and ofcourse my youngest wanted to jam too even though his guitar is unplugged.

Seeing the eyes of the kids light up and hearing them make music makes all our effort worth it.  Hopefully we have sparked in them a lifetime’s worth of interest in music and their chosen instruments.  Looking back, no one really thought me how to play an instrument, I had to learn it by myself by watching other guitar players – so these kids are truly blessed.  God really wants his children to make music for him, and we are thankful to help these kids find their “voice” so to speak.  To God be the glory!

Here are a few more pictures:

Music workshop continues

It continues to be a very busy summer for me and my family as we continue to teach these eager learners how to play instruments and how to make music. The response to our music ministry workshop was overwhelming and thankfully the young music team musicians whom I’m supposed to train – doubled as teachers. Here is a pic taken while the students are busy following instructions and practicing.

These workshops combined with the early morning basketball is taking its toll on my body. I’m planning to go to our favorite spa to have a nice massage with exotic oils like Cleopatra’s Choice Argan oil to get myself revved up and ready for more work. The work truly is never done.

Summer Activities for Kids

Summer is given more meaning to kids if we let them enjoy summer activities. My most memorable summer was when my Dad enrolled me in Yamaha Music school. It has helped me improve a lot in my musical instrument of choice which is the guitar. That is the reason why I want to enroll my eldest in summer classes too. My wife likes to enroll him in a swimming program but he is not showing interest in swimming. I, on the other hand, would like to enroll him in music lessons but it seems he’s too young to be interested. He was not without any activities this summer though because he participated in the annual Vacation Bible School at our church. This is his third year attending this worthwhile activity and we’re hoping he will keep on attending until he’s 15.

Summer is indeed one of the best time of the year. It is also the time when our children can relax from their school work and have more fun. Do not force them to attend summer classes if they’re not interested. Observe your child and his passion. Once you have found one then lose no time and nurture it by letting him attend summer classes related to his passion.

My Son and His Writing

Writing is part of our education.  I remember my son’s first day of preschool. He still didn’t know how to write that much then but his teacher focused on teaching her class to write. It’s the very first thing they do at the beginning of each lesson.  They have this school diary where they write their assignments and they bring it out first thing in the morning. At first I wondered why the teacher put this much importance in writing. If it were me I would have taught them to read first.  As the school year progressed I realized the importance of this habit. The diary serves as the teacher’s communication with the parents of her students. We were informed of their assignments and the lessons of the day through their school diary so we, the parents, were informed along the way.

My son was having difficulty with the writing.  It is not his strongest point. The teacher says whenever he sees that they will have to write something long he gets disheartened and takes forever to finish. My son is not lazy it’s just that he has no practice. I would tell him that he better get this because this is the easy part.  Soon, when he’s in grade school especially high school he doesn’t have to copy anything but he’s required to write and organize his own thoughts. An essay writing service is not an option while he’s studying because he has to learn to do it himself at first. When he has learned the art of writing essays and papers that’s when he can buy essay online for himself. There are lots of online writing services that offer writing services to anyone who needs it. My wife is one of those who employs a ghost writer in her line of work.  She is a blogger and she is like other bloggers who order paper when they are too busy to write it.

Going back to my son, he took a break from school today. They were supposed to have their foundation day and we had all his things ready but when he woke up this morning he has no energy. My wife checked his temperature and he has no fever.  I guess he just got tired of our recent trips to the mall.  For two days straight, we spent the afternoon at the mall and he has no time to rest in between because he had to wake up early the next day. Now, all of this has taken its toll and he feels tired and his legs ache. I hope all he needs is rest and he will feel better tomorrow.
