Keeping Our Cars Clean

How the car is maintained shows what a car owner is in his home. Keeping the cleanliness of a car is a necessity in order to keep the car in an excellent condition. People who own cars knows that it is important to take good care of their car in order to keep it in its fine running condition.

Some car owners even buy waxes to shine their cars after washing in order to make it shiny and dirt-less. Cleaning and making the car look shiny outside is not enough, the interior or inside of the car must be cleaned too. It is shameful if the interior of the car is dirty.  Though car owners can take their cars to carwash shops to have it cleaned and vacuumed having custom floor mats are a great help in maintaining the car’s interior clean. Clear Protect-A-Mat can be chosen by a car owner to avoid the hassle of cleaning the car everyday because it keeps the floor board from harmful materials that may scratch or stain the car floor board. Hot or cold temperatures will not affect the Protect-A-Mat’s performance and it will not even crack, curl or harden. Aside from that it is very easy to clean too.

Car Insurance Tips for You

Buying a car insurance can be nerve racking. There are so many things that you have to consider and so many quotes that you have to sift through. Plus, if you have a limited budget then also have to consider one that would fit your budget.

In choosing a car insurance you have to decide what your needs are. If you want one that covers the minimum limit required by law then check with your State what their requirements are. However, if you feel you will need more than the minimum then be prepared to shell out a bit more money for the extra protection.

Actively ask for discounts. This is one way of getting a cheaper car insurance. Insurers sometimes forget to tell you about their ongoing promos so be sure to ask them if they have one. Also, be aware of some regular discounts provided for multiple car owners, companies, senior citizens, and the like.

Changing My First Tire

Last week, I had to change a flat tire for the first time.  I was on my way to the parking lot when I noticed my car’s front tire was deflated.  I tell you that changing a flat tire is like one of the safe diet pills that work. I really lost a lot of weight the day I changed my first tire.

Anyway, I learned a lot the first time I changed a tire.  I’m just glad it’s now over.  I hope I won’t experience it again in the near future but now that I have experienced it I’m more confident when it happens again.

Quality Wheels for Your Car

I almost got into an accident because of my car’s wheels. Well, I might be exaggerating but I still think it was a close call. I have always made it a habit to check the car’s fluids and the wheels every week. I didn’t want to be put in a situation where I would be stranded in the middle of the road with a car problem. Although I am very vigilant in checking my car I have missed checking the inner side of the wheels. Good thing on a hunch I decided to have the oils changed way before it was due. Then the mechanic found out that unknown to me the inner side of two out of four car wheels were almost ready to burst. The two wheels were ripped with the metal almost exposed. The mechanic told me that if I waited further to have my car checked I might have figured in a terrible accident on the road. I shudder at the thought of what might happen.

So now I have learned my lesson. I have to be extra vigilant in checking all that needs to be checked. If I have to stoop low to see the inner side of the wheels then I have to do it. It is also important to use only quality wheels and tires. I heard that Carid.com, an online car accessory store, sells quality car accessories. I have checked out their site and I liked what I saw. I’m going to order from them so I will have peace of mind that this won’t happen again.

Hid Lights for Our Car

“How I wish we had  hid lights,” I said while driving on a particularly rainy night.  Every driver knows how hard and dangerous it is to drive when it’s raining.  If it’s raining at night then you will have to double the danger.

In times like these hid lights will surely come in handy.  Hid – which stands for high intensity discharge -  lights provide light that is five times more brighter than the normal halogen lamps that you have in your car.  It lasts longer too.  Aside from helping your visibility during a rainy night, hid lights are also eye catching and nice to look at.  It can add beauty to your car.

We don’t have hid lights in our car just yet but I’m eying those lights from CARiD.com. CARiD.com has been in the car accessories business since 2003 and has already made a name as being a reliable car accessories dealer online.

In the meantime I’ll remember to put on my shades when I get caught driving in the rain at night.  Did you know that sunglasses – yes, even ordinary ones – can give you a clearer vision at night even during a heavy rain?  So have your shades on hand every time you drive.  Who knows it can save your life  or another person’s life?

Car Registration at FTI LTO

Last week was the first time we had our car registered. It was an experience we won’t forget as what was supposed to be accomplished for just a few hours dragged on to about two days.

We went to FTI LTO to get the requirements needed for the registration. First, we went to pay for our car insurance. We paid P850 for TPL insurance which I think was overpriced. Since it was our first time we had no choice but to pay it. Next we have to pay for the emission test. The emission test will test the carbon dioxide emitted by your car and determine if it is below dangerous levels. Although our car is already old it passed the emission test with flying colors. Of course, we have to pay for this too. We paid P410 for the emission test.

Next, we have to get the chassis and engine number of the car in a process called stenciling. It was a quick and easy process and we just paid the person who helped us P20.

Then with the papers finally complete we went to the evaluator to pass our papers. I thought we would be done by the end of the day but they suddenly announced their system went offline. All the jobs were halted at the LTO office since they can’t use the computer. We waited for an hour before deciding to go home.

The next day we came back but the system was still offline. So we went around to look for ford mustang accessories for a friend to pass the time. By the time we went back at 2pm the system was thankfully already online but the number of people has already doubled. So we have to wait a total of three more hours just to get our sticker.

I hope they do something to fix the system outages permanently so next year we won’t encounter the same problem.

Safe Parking

Like our previous apartment, the house we moved in doesn’t have it’s own parking area. Oh, we have a garage but we can’t park the car there unless we’re prepared to bring down the whole fence and construct a new one. That we’re not prepared to do at this point. Good thing our neighbor offered us a parking area for a minimal monthly fee. The area has it’s own gate so I can be rest assured that our car will be safe. I noticed some trucks with cool truck grills parking in the same area too and that makes me more confident that since other owners trust that the parking area is safe I can sleep soundly at night knowing something won’t happen to our car while we sleep.  Just to be absolutely safe, I also put a steering wheel to lock the steering wheel in place.   I know the amount we pay is going to be an added expense but it pays to be safe than sorry in the future.

Car problems – Abnormal Tire Wear

Car problems – Abnormal Tire Wear

Since we moved to our new home, we have been spending a considerable amount of cash and time on the house. If I had a stash of bullion, it woudn’t be a big deal but it really is a pain to be confronted with a different type of problem – a car problem! I was bringing my car to work everyday and was happy cause it really cut my travel time by a lot. What I didn’t know was that trouble has been brewing – and the first of a continuing series of problems has begun. I noticed a highly unusual tire wear, the inner sides of my two front tires were badly worn out, the repairman was surprised it didn’t blow up yet! I quickly changed the front wheels. Ofcourse the problems and expenses did not end there – I found out that the cause of this abnormal tire wear was improper wheel alignment. So off I went to have the wheels aligned… but I had no idea that more problems were waiting for me and my blue friend.

(To be continued)
