Cool new acoustic synth
Now this is something to look forward to, I hope that the technology allows for non-intrusive attachment into acoustics.

Shortcut?
What is the quickest way to improve playing technique – this is one of the most common question that I get from my students. It’s as if they are looking for a shortcut to improving their skills, unfortunately I have to give them the hard facts that the quickest way is discipline, proper practice regimen and good old wood shedding. This question gives me the opportunity to explain the importance of every aspect of their playing – specifically timing and rhythm. This is where I direct the student’s attention to metronomes and playing with backing tracks or virtual drum machines like the fxpansion geist at Guitar Center.

Boracay Music
Finally home from our week long vacation at Boracay, and all I can say that it was a blast. The first part of the trip was littered with problems, we faced a 3 hour flight delay and we the reservation that we paid for was not exactly what we hoped. But after all of that was straightened out, everything was smooth sailing. I’ll get into the details of the trip on another post, but for now I want to talk about one thing I regret leaving behind, my guitar! I wish I bought my faithful axe along, because it would have fit the relaxing scenario!
Well there were local bands that performed at night, but without being an air-head, they were in my humble opinion not up to the level of musicianship that I was expecting for a world famous beach. Some of the guitars were out of tune, and the covers were lack luster, they should have played local and original songs, using local instruments! I was seriously considering to voluntarily sit in with one of the bands just so people could enjoy music quality that matches the scenery!
Being away from my guitar for a week made me itch for a new guitar that I can travel with, was thinking of something affordable, or maybe go for gold and get a cool taylor t5.
Here’s bunso enjoying the beach:

Joe Pass & Ella Fritzgerald
Here is another reason why I think I was born too late, the music that I enjoy are made by a bygone generation… Amazing performance by two geniuses in their own respective fields.

Levys Strap

I now own quite a number of guitars, thankfully some of them are borrowed by my relatives, but I still have quite a handful that I alternate every week. After playing multiple guitars for so long, I have a healthy respect for good and sturdy straps. I know that you should not take straps lightly, or cheaply – because if they break and your precious instrument falls or worse falls on your feet, it will be quite painful. Believe I know because it happened to me while playing! So before my latest guitar arrived I was already on the lookout for nice guitar straps, and I ended up buying Levys.

Music Along the Way
Every Saturday, we go to my mother’s house to spend the weekend there. The reason behind this is we attend the Sunday service every week at our regular church. Being the head of the music department I have some responsibilities there that I can’t neglect. I need to practice the musicians for the praise and worship segment of our Sunday service.
Since the drive to my mother’s house is long I wanted to have some CDs burned so I can play some music. But I didn’t have time for that because I’m so busy with work. Good thing I found this affordable easy cd duplication service to do it for me. Now during our long drive we have some good songs on play on the road. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to arrive at our destination but it seems the journey is fast because we hear some good music along the way.
