Music workshop continues
It continues to be a very busy summer for me and my family as we continue to teach these eager learners how to play instruments and how to make music. The response to our music ministry workshop was overwhelming and thankfully the young music team musicians whom I’m supposed to train – doubled as teachers. Here is a pic taken while the students are busy following instructions and practicing.

These workshops combined with the early morning basketball is taking its toll on my body. I’m planning to go to our favorite spa to have a nice massage with exotic oils like Cleopatra’s Choice Argan oil to get myself revved up and ready for more work. The work truly is never done.

Back to Home Recording
After a long hiatus, I have finally gotten some free time to get back into home recording. I was playing around with my effects pedal when I suddenly had the urge to make a demo of the artist copy patches I made.
I took on the challenge of creating Eric Johnson patches for the POD HD400, and I was somehow satisfied. Some will still argue that my rendition was not completely accurate but the important thing is I liked it. I then jammed on an EJ track called East Wes using tones that I based off EJ’s setup.
After recording it and listening through my humble speaker system, I found it appeasing, but what’s wierd is if I listen in using my headphone, it does seem a bit trebly. Maybe it is due to my cheap headphones, which reminds me to get decent models of headphones like numark headphones for better headphone monitoring.

Hunt for a Guitar Case
My 1983 Fender Sratocaster JV is in need of a new home. The current gig bag that I use is many years old already and is almost about to give out, which is why I have been actively looking for a good gig bag or guitar case that be an exact fit for my guitar. I’ve already checked out the generic cases that are available and sadly they are not as fitting as I would hope so I am hoping some guy out there could sell me a case that is specifically made for Fender Strats.

On Air
Who would have thought that I would be heard live on a popular radio station with a very popular singer songwriter? Well if you thought so then you hit the jackpot! Last Saturday was a blast – went to two radio stations, promoting the 2nd Elements National Singing and Songwriting Camp, I was with 2 awesome mentors and we jammed on both of the stations we were in. Good times!

Music Room!
I’ve been hoping to complete my home studio within this year but I guess it will have to wait until our house has been renovated. We have included a small music room in the design and by God’s grace, I will be practicing and recording tracks early next year. Aside from instruments – which I already have a lot of, I am considering getting good quality speakers. I have been scouting for a few but the question is which bookshelf speakers should I get? In any case I hope to see the completion of our new house and by God’s grace amplify my musical productivity.

Nicki Minaj or Onika Tanya Maraj in real life is the newest cover of BlackBook Magazine for their March 2011 issue. She is from Trinidad and Tobago and is well known as a hip hop and R&B singer/songwriter. Her first debut album, Pink Friday, has become number one in the Billboard charts.
