Hunt for a new phone
When the kids were content and happy, we quickly moved into the Cyberzone area of MOA to scourge the shops for my wife’s next phone. Since the current iPhone is just a smaller version of the iPad2 that can make calls, we opted to try our luck with other brands. I’ve been hearing about how fragile the iPhone 4s is and the corresponding horror stories that come with it, so instead of getting one and wrapping it in adamantium metal, I’d rather have a sturdy phone that will work without the need for ridiculous rubber edge sealsprotection.

Our primary choice was the Nokia Lumia 610. We were impressed with its WindowsPhone 7.5 operating system and its use of “tiles” instead of the usual icons. It’s simply worlds better when compared to the basic interface of iOS devices like the one in our iPad2. Plus its quite affordable, a around P10,000 when we checked its price.
Even though we liked the Lumia, we looked around some more to see what the Android brands have to offer. And we almost settled for a great looking Samsung phone – the Ace 2. However there was something about the Lumia that captured our interest.

And so we went back to the Nokia store and checked out the phone, to my surprise however, my wife opted for the more expensive Lumia 800 model. After seeing it and reading about the great reviews, specifically with its “gorilla glass”, I had to give in to her request. And so, we ended up taking home a nice phone from the familiar Nokia brand.
