Giving My Kids the Best
Being a dad of two young kids means I always love splurging them with gifts. My wife said I live my childhood fantasy through them but I say she’s just jealous! LOL!
My bonding time with the kids consist of going to the toy store and picking the best toy. My eldest loves trucks and cars so our house are now filled with all kinds – Peterbilt, Mustang, Audi, Bugatti Veyron – you name it, we got it. When we already bought too many toy cars I bought him cartoon figures, beyblades, train sets, and Legos instead.
Meanwhile, my wife wants to buy a doll house but can’t because we don’t have a baby girl yet. She says I have all the fun and she’s right.
The truth is I love giving them toys more than anything. Growing up I never had a lot of toys and I don’t want my kids to grow up feeling the same way I did. I may overdo it sometimes but pretty soon when they’re all grown up I won’t be able to give them these things anymore. Time flies fast and the last thing I want is to regret is making them feel loved and cherished when they needed it most.

Remembering John Mayer in Manila
It’s been a year now since John Mayer came to Manila. It was a very memorable night for me and a few of my friends that got to watch the concert up close. Aside from great music from the main man, the night was memorable because of the heavy rains and the umbrellas that occasionally block our view.
I am thankful that some of the people in the audience brought their HD camcorders and recorded the entire concert. At least we could relive the concert anytime we want. I did bring a digital camera but the video I got pales in comparison with videos like the one below.
Hope that when Mayer releases his next album, he adds Manila to his tour again.

No other woman
After consistent prodding my wife and I watched the movie “No other woman”. Actually I didn’t watch it as much, because from the start we were bombarded by the typical “sex sells” motif of movies. I’ve read a lot of good reviews about the movie but I think they were all just being polite and politically correct. I wasn’t too impressed with the acting, it wouldn’t stand compared to real filipino classics, or even independently released filipino movies.
Sadly the story was too bland and stereo typical. You can summarize the story in one sentence… I guess they just wanted to showcase some sexy looks and add a story in the background.
Hotblooded teen boys will probably enjoy this, but the producers should have let the mistress wore sexy bunny outfits to emphasize the point of the movie, which is – it is a “sexy” movie.
To be fair, my wife kinda liked it. But honestly this will be one of those movies that you will easily forget about.

Travel Kit Preparations
We are heading to Bohol for a week long vacation early next year. It will surely be a fun adventure for my family.
This out of town trip will also be where we will celebrate My son’s birthday. We picked Bohol because we have heard a lot of great things about the place. We want to be able to get to a beach and yet do other things as well.
To ensure that we have a great time, I will see to it that all preparations are done well ahead of time, and that everything is in order. We are still finalizing the venue and itinerary so there could still be a lot of adjustments. But that should not be an excuse for procrastinating, I know too well that it pays to be prepared.
When we go out to our relatives – it is quite common for us to leave important items like, change of clothes, cell phone, shave and other small but important items. And I want to make sure that in this long vacation we have everything we need. To be safe, I’ll be the one to double check on our Travel Kit, I will ensure important personal effects are present and neatly arranged.
This will be an exciting week long vacation and I don’t want to ruin it just because we left out important items like my shave. I wouldn’t want to be unable to shave and look like a hermit there. So better safe than sorry.
I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog about Travel Kits and was compensated. Still, the views, opinions and content are all my own.

Farewell, Steve Jobs
The world has lost one of its best innovator and revolutionary thinker. Aspirants have a lost a role model and inspiration. But the worst part of it all, is a son has lost his father. Its a sad day indeed. Hope that Steve’s family is doing OK.
Inspiring quote:a
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Apple Inc.

House repairs
Just a week before Pedring hit us, I hired a carpenter to fix up portions of our roof and wall. And looks like I made the right decision. Had I not done that, those parts would have probably flown along with the strong winds of Pedring.
I wanted to postpone small repairs because of the upcoming house renovation, but I decided to get the house ready for possible typhoons and bad weather. Now I am glad I did.
Other parts of our country was not so lucky, they were hit really bad, some local governement had to resort to equipment lease because their own equipments were badly damaged by Pedring and the flooding that came with it.
Lesson learned: It pays to be prepared.
