A Fatal Affair

For some reason, I love true crime shows. I don’t know what it is, but they pique my interest every time. Maybe it’s because watching stories about such bad people makes me feel better about myself, but that’s just a guess.

The other night I watched an old 48 Hours episode on the WE channel on direct tv. WE stands for Women’s Entertainment. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a man that was watching women’s television. It’s not like I was watching The Golden Girls or a soap opera or anything. This show was based on a real murder investigation, and like most of them, it was creepy.

The bad guy’s name was Wayne Guidry. That name just sounds like it belongs to a bad guy. I don’t even feel comfortable writing his name and increasing his reputation, since that’s all he has left, but I felt it necessary to provide a name. The bottom line is that Wayne Guidry is a murderer and he’s paying for it with a life sentence without the possibility of parole. But you’re probably wondering how this murder happened.

Please forgive me for not remembering the victim’s name. I will call her Rose since she was a beautiful 29-year-old woman. The husband’s name was Tim. In most cases, when a murder takes place, you’re immediately going to suspect the husband or wife. This is something I have picked up on from watching all these true crime shows. This particular show was one of the few cases where it was different.

Since Tim and Rose were fighting so much, Rose took up the offer from a friend to go visit a local bar and have a few drinks. Wayne spotted her and immediately took action. They built a relationship and would soon take romantic drives into the deep woods. Tim, the husband, was unaware of this. He didn’t even suspect anything when Rose moved out. He figured the space would be good for her for awhile.

Wayne didn’t truly love Rose. He wanted what Tim had – a beautiful wife and money. One night, Wayne drove Rose out to their favorite spot. He got her out of the car, pulled a gun on her, and stated, “Marriage or death.” Rose did not give in to his odd and lethal proposal. Unfortunately, it was the final response she would ever give.

Rose’s mother didn’t get a call from her daughter the next day. She knew something was wrong. It took a long time, but with help from several parties, everything eventually came together. Wayne Guidry is now rotting away in a tiny cell somewhere in Louisiana. Good riddance!

  1. Hello fellow BC Blogger!

I thought I’d come by and leave a comment on your blog.

I’m currently raising funds for a cat with a broken leg at a local NO-Kill Humane Society. I’m asking people to donate $1. If everyone donates $1 and all their friends donate $1, we’ll hit our target in no time!!
