Holy Week Preparations

While everyone else are on vacation, the holy week is one of the most busiest week for me and my guitars. We usually hold multiple church services within the week, which means that we have to prepare a good number of songs, and ofcourse play them live. Since I am now living quite a distance away from our local church, I’m expecting the schedule and travel time to be quite a challenge this year. So what I did was to prepare a long term schedule for the last week of March and I also ensured that my gear is ready for the task. Good thing the strings are still OK, but I might have to shop elixir strings just to be on the safe side. Oh and I almost forgot that I have to make sure our car is running properly to handle the constant traveling!

Z at Boracay

From time to time, I still look back to our Boracay vacation, and it gets me thinking of having another vacation this summer with my family.  Here’s Z enjoying the sand and the beautiful sunset scenery at Boracay.

RO2

Since its open beta launch last December, I’ve been hooked to Ragnarok Online 2. Although the game is really just a substandard WOW clone, I find it fun because it brings back fond memories of the original game of which I played around a decade ago. Instead of looking for discount cigars online, I was immersed into a virtual world called Fenrir, of which I was able to get my avatar up to the highest level – and was one of the first few to ever do it on our server. Although I’m not as passionate as before, it is still a great game of which I use to entertain myself.

Building Permit Delay

We have submitted all our requirements to the City Hall planning department back in mid-January, but up to now we are still getting the same run-around and lame excuse from them. After almost two months, they are still not done getting the permit ready even when we accomplished all that they needed. Are they sitting on the papers? Does it need more than a month to review the plans and compute for the tax? If I were their manager I’d fire their ass for being unbelievably lazy!

So for now we have to wait before we continue with the construction of the new house, if only they did their job properly, half of the house would probably be already done, and we can even have the garden water fountain started. I’m not easily ticked but I just can’t stand lazy employees – especially those in the government!

Missing Z

Yesterday, we dropped our first born to his grandma’s house. It was his first ever vacation without us. My wife suggested it and to our surprise he was very open to the idea. Maybe it was because he wanted to learn how to bake – his lola tita has a bakery – or maybe because he was simply bored at our house. Being home schooled, he has a lot of time free time because it meant no homework for the kid. Normally, he would be happy playing with his toy cars. He had loved cars since the beginning and dreamed of driving around in the best atv or a side by side utv with his brother. Since my wife and I are very busy during the week we try to make up by taking them to places on weekends. Our eldest particularly loves driving atv side by side with his uncle at Quezon Circle.

However, during the week his company is his iPad. He has enough kids to play with but all of them have gadgets so they will play side by side together. Of course we want him to enjoy life and not be glued to his gadgets so when we visited my mother-in-law last weekend my wife got this idea.

To make the long story short, yesterday we dropped him off at his grandma’s house. We happily said goodbye to one another but on the way home my wife and I were already missing him. We talked to him through Skype as soon as we got home and he was as cheerful as ever. It seems he was enjoying his stay there. He already ate his dinner and was looking forward to sleep.

It will be 5 more days before we pick him up.We hope he enjoys his stay with his grandma and his grand aunt but hopefully he doesn’t enjoy it too much to not want to go back home. haha!

We miss you, Z!

Valentines Surprise

I’m not the type that thinks food and gifts can substitute for quality time, however I understand that I have to set my ideals aside from time to time to please my wife.  And so this Valentines, my Z helped me prepare a special dinner for his mom.  We rushed in the afternoon to buy my wife’s favorite food – Ice Cream and Cake, and we ofcourse picked out flowers.  When we got home, we prepared the table and setup to candles to make it a solemn dinner.  When she came home, she was greeted by the candle lit table with the cake and dinner, and my eldest gave her the flowers.  The smile on her face is priceless, and up to now, she smiles when I tease her about being materialistic when it comes to special days! Here is a picture that she took of the cake:

Extended Family

Last year we enjoyed our family trip to Bohol, although the kids were really happy, we know that Z would be even more ecstatic if his bestfriend/cousin would come along. So when we booked our flight for Boracay, we talked to my brother to see if they are interested, and it turned out that they were, so on this trip we have two families. My youngest sister, who is about to graduate also wanted to join the vacation, so we decided to bring her along, as an alternative to giving her graduation rings for girls.

Our decision to bring my brother’s family was indeed the right one because the kids really enjoyed each others company, right from the airport up to their last dip in the beach. If you haven’t tried yet, go on trips with more people, – the more the merrier
